The role of the School Board is to ensure that all students achieve their highest possible educational outcomes. In our school, a state-integrated school, the Board (which includes Proprietor's Appointees) must also safeguard and maintain the Special Catholic Character of the school.
The Board's role is one of strategic oversight, leadership, direction, and policy setting.

Our PTA Key Roles
Support the school positively so that school staff can implement an effective teaching and learning programme in an excellent environment for the best student outcomes.
Consult with school community, School Board and staff to set funding goals from year to year.
Actively fundraise within the community to achieve those goals.
Assist with setting up courses for parents.
Represent the views of members to appropriate quarters.
Be involved in activities that improve the school environment (e.g. working bees) and participate in general school events.
All children and staff at our school belong to one of our School Whānau Groups. Each Whānau Group includes children from throughout the whole school, from New Entrants to Year 8. During the year, the Whānau leaders organise activities so that children get to know others throughout the school. Each School Whānau Group is named after a Dominican saint, and each is connected with a maunga (mountain) in our region.

A Message from our Parish Priest and School Chaplain
On behalf of St Joseph’s Parish, I would like to welcome you to our parish. Geographically, this encompasses the Wakatipu Basin with Mass centres in Queenstown (St Joseph’s), Arrowtown (St Patrick’s) and Garston (St Thomas’s). As you are aware, this is a quickly developing region.
We would like you to feel at home in our parish. The St Joseph’s School is an integral part of life in our parish. We endeavour to work together where children can grow in the knowledge and love of their faith and fulfill their potential as human beings. We invite you to attend our Saturday night or Sunday Masses and be actively involved in parish ministries, activities and in the Sacramental preparation of your children.
If you are interested in learning more about your faith, courses are run from time to time. I am happy to help you in whatever way I can.
God bless
Father Cipriano Fernandes
